Share Table in Highland Park
Updated: Jun 10, 2020
Plastic~Free Town took part in a program that helps underprivileged children while simultaneously decreasing food waste. This program, Share Table, is a simple, but helpful tool for those who have left overs and for those who may not have enough to eat. During lunch, a bin is set out on a table for anyone to donate extra food they might have, such as an apple or a cheese stick. Anyone else in the lunchroom can take something from the bin if they can’t get food otherwise, or if they’re still hungry. The Share Table began in Highland Park High School. It was so successful that it branched out to the Middle school, where it continued to help hungry students and lessen waste.
