Paper Straws in Highland Park

Plastic~Free Town began an initiative to get rid of plastic straws by bringing the idea up to Sustainable Highland Park. Sustainable Highland Park said they would work with us, and we went on to raise money for boxes of paper straws. We gave free trials of these paper straws to restaurants all around town. These trials of 400 straws for each business lasted about one week. We also asked restaurants to only give out plastic straws if they were specifically asked for. Now, most businesses in Highland Park are using only paper straws! Help this initiative to continue by supporting businesses that use paper straws and think about getting some paper or reusable straws for yourself.
