Plastic-Free Town is an organization founded by two middle school students who were inspired by a school project. It was made to help our town of Highland Park play a part in helping the environment.
We have made some major strides in helping our town become plastic-free, such as helping to eliminate the use of plastic bags in stores around town, providing resources and support for many local businesses to switch from plastic to paper straws, and winning the Changemaker of the Month award on the Devin Thorpe show.
Plastic-Free Town has grown in people and action. We hold monthly trash pickups around the town and help spread awareness in schools and local shops. We have terracycle bins in the middle school and collect around 400 wrappers every month.
Please join us in our goal to make a better, cleaner future for towns all over the state of New Jersey by participating in our events, taking our survey, contacting us with any questions you may have, and subscribing to receive updates on our activity.
