Plastic~Free Town

Makin' towns Plastic Free since 2017

Plastic Free Town is an organization founded by two middle school students inspired by a school project. It was made to help our town play a part in helping the environment. We have made some major strides with helping our town become plastic-free. Some major accomplishments we have completed are helping with eliminating the use of plastic bags in stores around town, providing the resources and support to switch many local businesses from plastic to paper straws, and winning the Changemaker of the month award on the Devin Thorpe show. Plastic Free Town has grown in people and action. We hold monthly trash pickups around the town and help spread awareness in schools and local shops. We have terracycle bins in the middle school and collect around 400 wrappers every month. Please join us in our goal to make a better, cleaner future for towns all over our state!

Paper straws

One Step at a Time

We raised about $300 and used this money to buy 15 boxes of paper straws (shown above) to give each restaurant a free trial of paper straws to see how they like it, and if they do like them then they can convert to paper straws and hopefully by the end of January we will have all the restaurants on a free trial !
